An Inspiring Encounter with German Researchers from HNEE University

The Alliance Ammeln   is honored to have hosted and held special meetings with Katja and her husband Martin, two researchers from the renowned HNEE University in Germany, which is considered a pioneer in applied research and sustainable development.

These two researchers are undertaking a unique journey, conducting a fascinating study on biosphere reserves around the world aboard their boat. Their innovative approach combines mobility, exploration, and direct field observation of ecosystems, providing them with a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by these unique natural areas and the communities that depend on them.

The meetings were a rare opportunity for rich exchanges on issues of biodiversity conservation, knowledge transfer, and strengthening the resilience of territories in the face of climate change. They also opened promising prospects for cooperation and the sharing of experiences among the various actors of the Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve (RBA) — including the RARBA Network, the Alliance Ammeln Civil Coalition, and HNEE University — within a framework of scientific and human solidarity.

✨ A shining example that research, when brought closer to the field, becomes a powerful lever for awareness and action in favor of our planet.

In addition, HNEE University maintains close ties with UNESCO through its involvement in programs related to biosphere reserves and education for sustainable development. The university currently has more than 85 active cooperation partners in 39 countries, enhancing international exchange and collaboration between students and faculty in the fields of research, teaching, and knowledge transfer. The university’s global dimension is also reflected in the fact that 12% of its students are international, further strengthening its role as a platform for openness, diversity, and intercultural dialogue.
